The space combat therefore feels fairly generic, mostly just focused on the use of officer abilities which definitely saved the day in terms of gameplay interest, but otherwise just cycling through the same 2 - 3 weapons.
You can dock in stations to pick up supplies, find quests and engage in basic space commerce.
Strong recommendation for Approaching Infinity if you're interested in this genre and don't mind the indie game graphics and controls.
The sound effects are simple but do a good job conveying information, there are lots of little visual cues that help make things more intuitive, great interface, mostly perfect default keybindings (but also completely configurable), etc.
i love the music, soundtrack just full of bangers that overflow with campy scifi adventure goodness that makes you want to explore just one more planet.
Plays great on steam deck as well, it’s the perfect type of pick and and play game for it
