What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
It sounds like a novelty at first, but the concept is integrated deeply enough into exploration, combat, inventory management, and quests that the interface becomes an actual gameplay mechanic.
+Inventory system is good and fair, with opportunity to store stuff with the guild available in certain towns.
Speaking of combat, this is actually one of the best single-character RPG battle systems I've experienced.
Different character options and abilities encourage experimentation, while weapons, armor, useful items, and other discoveries gradually shape each run.
Additionally, the way the game's difficulty scaling works allows you decent control over how easy or hard you want your run to be, making it easy enough to regularly get powerful runs if you put the time and effort into it, or challenge yourself with a faster progressing time limit.
+The early 1990s look and sounds of the game fit together, and the midi-type soundtrack is top notch for an RPG.
