Graphics
Players who bring up Graphics mostly praise it.
59 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
This second point is important, because the strange graphics, unusual soundscapes, and unnerving designs of the original game contribute heavily to the sense of unease that you experience as you explore the island and ages of Myst, uncovering the wider story and preparing yourself for what comes next.
Story
Players who bring up Story mostly praise it.
51 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
Originally released in 1993, Myst captivated gamers with its mesmerizing world, challenging puzzles, and intriguing narrative.
Gameplay
Players who bring up Gameplay mostly praise it.
37 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
If you don't have nostalgia for the original, nor do you want to experience how we "used to game" in the 90s, then you should go for the remake over this version, I hear there are some nice quality of life improvements that make it a lot more approachable.
Audio
Players who bring up Audio mostly praise it.
17 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
The hauntingly atmospheric soundtrack remains a highlight, setting the mood for each unique age you explore.
Difficulty
Players who bring up Difficulty mostly praise it.
10 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
The puzzles are the perfect difficulty: fairly challenging, but never so hard to make you give up.
Linux compatibility
Players who bring up Linux compatibility mostly praise it.
3 of 300 sampled reviews raised it
Masterpiece Edition proved to me that this was exactly the right decision: not only did it play perfectly right out of the box (the ScummVM virtual machine plays well even when using Proton on Linux!) but it preserved the graininess of the FMV and the chunkiness of all its pixels without sacrificing playability.
