I've always had an interest in Shenmue because I love Yakuza and wanted to find another game series similar that I could fall in love with and thought the newest would be the best because the graphics and clunky nature of 1 and 2 really turned me off.
I don't know if you're allowed to change the layout or not, but it definitely cannot compare to gamepad.
I'd highly recommend dropping the difficulty during the chicken catching section, trust me on that one if you value your mental health.
