past hour six or so for the increasingly dark, consequential plot twists and turns, which I continued to love.
The core gameplay is very unique and takes (in my opinion) the best parts from several combat systems from games like Valkrie Profile and FFXIII.
Compounding this, the game gives you a lot of ways to tweak the risk/reward on fights, and part of gameplay is turning that risk up and down based on how your item supplies are holding out.
The soundtrack elevates this even further: its mix of synth-pop tracks, driving beats, and emotional themes gives the game a strong musical identity.
The graphics are tight and pop with a cool & futuristic colour palette although I don’t love the character art.
All of the character design is amazing; each of the party characters has their own distinct identity that is reflected in the way they appear.
