I personally haven't played a game with this type of solitaire style card mechanics before, but after the first few levels it all became quite intuitive.
The difficulty scaling is very slow and steady, so none of the fights I faced felt like complete BS, while still being challenging victories (mainly in the pursuit of more stars).
There's a good range of combat spells (only used in combat levels), passive abilities and abilities that affect the cards on the board.
Visuals were not up to the same (very high!) standard as Shadowhand, but were quite good in a much darker mood, fitting the story.
Sound effects provide satisfying feedback during encounters while helping maintain tension during more dangerous moments.
It has nice background arts, cool character design and a chill music.
