What players think
The recurring themes across 300 analysed reviews: what players praise, what divides them, and what to know.
Characters speak in cryptic, often humorous fragments that feel closer to surreal poetry than RPG banter, and the world’s history is suggested through tone, visuals, and bizarre events rather than clearly defined lore.
- The world and story are weird and interesting, in a humorous way.
Sound design and music play a crucial role in defining Hylics 2’s identity.
The worst part, however, are the 2D segments, which have the gameplay and clunk of a 3/10 SNES platformer, and are insufferable to play even in God mode because your character might randomly decide not to jump or not to double jump due to poorly coded geometry detection.
Controller customization is excellent and how I played 2.
Theme by theme
Every theme is scored by what reviewers actually said about it, not just whether they recommended the game.
Ranked by how many sampled reviews mention each topic. A topic sits in a column by what reviewers said about that topic; the percentage beside it is how many of them recommended the game anyway. One more theme was raised by fewer than 6 sampled reviews and is not shown.
